December 29, 2023 -Under the spotlight, 17-year-old Claudio Echeverri, a football gem, is about to embark on a journey to join the English powerhouse Manchester City. This transfer has garnered widespread attention in the football world, involving various parties in the deal, including his hometown club, River Plate.

Although Claudio Echeverri spent only five games at River Plate, his outstanding performance in the Mundial Sub 17 caught the attention of European clubs. With five goals in the tournament, he has chosen Manchester City as his new home for his future football career. Enzo Montepaone, Echeverri's agent, confirmed the news in an interview with the Italian media Calciomercato, saying, "The deal for Claudio to transfer from River Plate to Manchester City has been finalized, and we are very pleased." The reported transfer fee is 26 million euros.

While River Plate will lose this promising player, they will gain over 25 million dollars from the transfer. However, River Plate is not the sole beneficiary. When Echeverri was initially brought in from Deportivo Luján, the club secured a 15% share, potentially up to 1 million dollars. This amount will be used to promote infrastructure development and support the training of local young players.

Manchester City may consider loaning Echeverri to Girona in Spain, where he will collaborate with Julián Álvarez. This move aims to diversify Echeverri's European football career.

Deportivo Luján plans to use the substantial funds to improve club infrastructure, including completing field fences, constructing a new sports stadium, enhancing lighting facilities, and upgrading other amenities. Club president Emiliano Chiaramonte stated that this would be a significant transformation in the club's history and is considering naming the club after Claudio Echeverri.

This transfer is set to take effect in early 2026, opening a new chapter for River Plate, Claudio Echeverri, and Deportivo Luján. Football fans eagerly anticipate witnessing the blossoming of this young star on the international stage.
