December 29, 2023 — As the 2023 Asian Cup approaches, the Malayan Tigers are actively gearing up for this historic moment, marking 42 years of anticipation. Prior to the official matches, they plan to engage in a friendly match against a football club from Qatar to better refine the team's form.

Datuk Noor Azman Rahman, the Secretary General of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), stated that they have submitted a request for a friendly match to a Qatari club and are currently awaiting approval. This match will serve as the team's final warm-up under the leadership of Kim Pan-gon, ensuring they are in optimal condition before their opening match against Jordan.

Kim Pan-gon expressed concern about the number of friendly matches, emphasizing his desire for the team's best preparation. He pointed out that one match alone is not sufficient to meet the team's needs, hoping to arrange more friendly matches to ensure the team performs exceptionally in the challenges of the Asian Cup.

Simultaneously, the team is fully focused on preparing for the Asian Cup, with 26 players reporting to the national training center. This experienced squad includes naturalized players and heritage players, all eager to showcase outstanding performances in the upcoming matches.

In the imminent Asian Cup, five key players from Jordan, Indonesia, Lebanon, Tajikistan, and another player from Liga M in Indonesia will play crucial roles for the team. This premier Asian tournament will witness these players' outstanding performances with their respective national teams, engaging in intense clashes with Malaysian players.

Both the friendly match and the preparations for the Asian Cup demonstrate the Malayan Tigers' aspirations for success on the international stage. They are set to face the challenges in their best form, scripting a new chapter for Malaysian football.
